Makeup Solutions: Mature Skin

As faces age, things change.  And your makeup routine and products should too.
Here are a few products, likely new to you that will help with some pretty common “mature” skin and eye challenges when it comes to makeup.
Hooded Eyes/Loose Eyelids

As your eyelids age, the skin becomes loose and can drop onto your eyelashes.  You may also lose some volume and bounce in the skin around the eyes, which will create smudging and transfer of mascara to your eye area.  Ordinary waterproof mascaras won’t do much to help with this.  blinc mascara  is the original tube-technology mascara.

It’s invented to form tiny water-resistant “tubes” around your lashes for maximum amplification and hold, rather than painting them like conventional mascaras. Once applied, the tubes bind to your lashes and don’t run, smudge, clump, or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes.  When you cleanse off, you will see the little tubes slip off into your hands or on your cleaning cloth.  Don’t worry, your lashes are still there.

Dark Under-eye Area

If you have pronounced, dark under-eye circles, this will be a two step process.

First, you need to correct the blue/grey color, then you can conceal.  To correct the discoloration, you will need to use a peachy colored correction cream.  Pixi’s Correction Concentrate Brightening Peach conentrated correction cream instantly neutralizes darkness around eyes or anywhere that needs brightening (use on your eyelids too). Contains vitamins A, C & E and rose hip extract.  A little bit goes a long way, and the consistency is creamy, and does not crack when dry.

Once you’ve applied your corrector (a ring finger works great) you’re ready to add a concealer.

Traditional concealers can sets to a stiff, flat, dry finish.  If you have any fine lines, many concealers will settle into them, making them appear more pronounced.

Glossier’s Stretch Concealer
contains elastic micro waxes that move with your face instead of caking on top of it, and nourishing oils that give a dewy, glowing finish. The buildable formula covers everything from dark circles to redness and blemishes. In five shades painstakingly developed to enhance, brighten, and—most importantly—completely disappear into the widest range of skin tones.

Caking Foundation

As we lose hydration and barrier functions of our skin, foundation can start to look heavy, cakey and even looked cracked as it settles into fine lines.  Combining skin care with makeup, Bye Bye Foundation Full Coverage Moisturizer™ with SPF 50+  is the first-ever full-coverage moisturizer from IT Cosmetics.  Developed with plastic surgeons, its designed to help cover and improve the look of skin concerns including redness, pores, dark spots, breakouts, lines and wrinkles—all while protecting your skin with SPF 50+ broad-spectrum physical sunscreen. Created with proprietary 3D Skin Flex™ Technology, this hydrating color-infused moisturizer provides smooth, flexible pure color pigments that float over lines and wrinkles and feel like nothing on your skin, but cover everything without creasing or cracking. Ideal for all skin types.

Lackluster Eyebrows

Over time,  eyebrows can lose volume, and richness of color.  Gradually, you’ll have eyebrows that are barely noticeable.  By filling in your brows, you will lift years off your face.  If your not game for tinting your brows with your hairstylist or brow specialist, NYX Micro Brow Pencil is the next best thing for your makeup bag.  By using short strokes, your brows will appear, richer, fuller and your face will appear more youthful.

Bleeding Lip Color

Deep, vertical lip lines create little channels for lipsticks to migrate off of the lips and “bleed” or “feather.”  To avoid this, a primer is necessary.  Color Pop Lippie Primer has spherical technology to help fill in these fine lines to prevent bleeding, smooth and plump!  It also contains mango, avocado, and shea butter for moisture and Vitamin E to soothe your lips.

Apply liberally to bare lips (don’t forget the outer edge) to create the perfect base for your lipstick without diluting pigmentation of your lip product.
